PORT GORE WILDERNESS ADVENTURES AND DIVING
Don't have time for multiple days?
Do a big day out.
Join us for an unforgettable diving adventure with our Day Trips! Based just 3 hours out of Picton, the drive to the lodge is filled with picturesque views of the sounds and native bush. There are multiple resorts and campsites along the way if you wish to break up your trip. We start our day in the morning with a relaxing tea before gearing up and diving the wreck and reefs based on the preferences of our guests. See rare wildlife, including the King Shag, and enjoy plenty of walks and activities for non-divers.
ACTIVITIES
Our Day and 24hr Trips are the perfect opportunity to explore all that our beautiful location has to offer. Choose from a range of activities, including Try Scuba, Guided Dives, and Snorkeling, or explore the area on foot with our Guided Wilderness Walk. For a unique experience, join us on a King Shag Colony Boat Tour or try your hand at Beach Fishing. Whatever your preference, our team will ensure that you have an unforgettable adventure.
There are a number of walks of varying lengths that you can do around the farm from 30mins to 2 hours through a working farm and native bush. There are good bird watching opportunities for native birds. Port gore is home to the rare King Shag that is endemic to the Marlborough sounds. We also have good fishing for blue cod right off the beach below the lodge.
XTENDED RANGE
Our boat Xtended Range is custom fitted for diving with a lift on the back to make it easier to get back aboard especially for technical divers with multiple stages. Doors on both sides with a very low step make it easy to exit no matter the swell or wind direction. XR is surveyed with Maritime New Zealand for 10 people and has a enclosed cabin to block the wind during the surface interval. Smaller groups use our 4.5m Stabicraft.
EVERYTHING DIVING
Two dives a day, no time limits as long as everything is planned. We cater to all levels, from open water to extended range and advanced wreck divers. There is something for everyone. The first two dives of any trip are guided by one of our experienced instructors who know the wreck like the back of their hand. Three hour surface intervals possible for technical dives with hot drinks and soup to warm you up.
